  • Is Gallagher Farms beef grain fed or grass fed?

Gallagher Farms beef is grass fed, grain finished. Our cattle spend the majority of their lives grazing and/or eating hay, silage, and other forage crops on our feedlot. After weaning, our cows are fed a well-balanced diet of forage, grain, and other locally sourced ingredients like soy hulls, DDGs, and corn gluten pellets.

Our grain-finished beef is corn fed to tenderness and is guaranteed to be graded USDA Choice or Prime. Grain finishing helps us achieve the well-marbled beef that you’ve come to love.

  • Is Gallagher Farms beef antibiotic free?

All beef is antibiotic free, whether you purchase it in a grocery store or from a local farmer. All antibiotics are labeled with a withdrawal period that farmers must adhere to in order to ensure your beef is safe to eat and free from antibiotics. We follow these withdrawal periods to a T.

We also believe that high quality beef starts and ends with high quality care. That means that we treat animals that are sick and use antibiotics when warranted, following Beef Quality Assurance Guidelines.

  • Does Gallagher Farms use added hormones?

Gallagher Farms does not currently use any growth promoting hormones.

However, all hormones used in beef production must be approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. Research shows that supplemental hormones metabolize and clear the animal’s system long before they enter the food supply so rest assured that beef raised with growth promoting hormones is still safe to consume.
