Farm Talk Tuesday-Hormone Use in Beef Production

This week's Farm Talk Tuesday question is, "Do you use hormones on your farm?"

No, we're not currently using any growth hormones (these are called "implants" in beef production) on our farm. However, our choice to not use them is not because they are unsafe. In order to disprove some of the common misconceptions about hormones in beef, I ordered some implants and will show you exactly what they look like, how they are inserted into the animal, and what the hormone levels in meat look like in implanted and non-implanted animals.
